JAKARTA - Two gangs of thieves managed to break into two restaurant shophouses located on Jalan Utan Kayu Raya, Matraman District, East Jakarta. As a result of the incident, the victim's shop owner lost a number of cellphones and other valuable objects.
Luckily the police got evidence and traces to conduct a search through the CCTV camera installed. In the footage, it is clear that the perpetrator did what he did.
There are two known perpetrators. When in action, both use helmets and masks. The two of them first dismantled the lock on the shop's fence, then broke into the shop's rolling door.
"Actually, three shophouses have been burglarized. But because it was probably too late, only two shophouses were lost. From the CCTV footage, the incident occurred at 04.30 WIB in the morning," said Inggrid, one of the victims who owned the restaurant at the location, Friday, October 8.
From CCTV footage, the perpetrator brought a bag to put the stolen goods. When they managed to get into the shop, they checked and looked for valuables.
"The ones who got (stolen) were this shop and the (store) next door. I lost the TV remote, glasses and two cellphones. Meanwhile, the shop next door lost my cellphone, tab, and cashier's drawer," he told reporters.
However, the victim has not officially reported this incident to the Matraman Police. The victim reasoned that he had not officially reported it because he was still traumatized by the theft at his shophouse.
"Not yet reported, still traumatized. But there are police who did the crime scene this morning. From the CCTV footage, the characteristics of the perpetrators are young teenagers. There are 2 perpetrators, riding a motorbike," he said.
The perpetrators also had time to break the room divider to the main door. They almost broke into the whole shop freely.
"As a result of this theft, I suffered a loss of around 8 million rupiah," he said.
Until this news was written, the case of the shophouse break-in was still being handled by the Matraman Police.
