Connect New PAM Water In Jakarta Now Free

JAKARTA Regional-Owned Public Company (Perumda) PAM Jaya together with the Ministry of Public Works (PU carries out connection programs for free for new customers and this is done in order to achieve the target of 100 percent coverage of piped water services in Jakarta.

"Residents living in designated areas will not be charged with installing water connections," said PAM Jaya President Director Arief Nasrudin as quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, January 4.

According to him, new customers are only required to pay Subscription Guarantee (UJL) as a deposit. The money will be fully refunded if the customer decides to stop subscribing to PAM Jaya's water service.

"So this initiative provides affordable and flexible solutions for new customers," he said. The regional general company is now receiving additional water supply from the JatiluhurTahap I Regional Drinking Water Supply System (SPAM) which has been operating commercially in mid-December 2024.

Arief said the operation of the Phase I Jatiluhur SPAM could increase the supply of clean water in Jakarta.

"This Jatiluhur SPAM will provide a supply of 4,000 liters of clean water per second for DKI Jakarta, which will support around 300,000 new house connections by 2028," he said.

To support this, the company owned by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov) has made a massive expansion of the pipeline network in East Jakarta.

The expansion will cover ten main areas, including North Cipinang Besar Village, South Cipinang Besar, Cipinang Muara, Duren Sawit, Pulogebang, Klender, as well as parts of Cipinang, Pondok Bambu, Jatinegara Kaum and Milling.

"This infrastructure improvement will allow residents in the area to gain more reliable access to clean water through the piping network," he said.

The operation of the Phase I Jatiluhur SPAM is a big step towards the goal of providing 100 percent coverage of piped water services in Jakarta.

By 2030, the company targets every Jakarta resident to have access to affordable and reliable clean water services.

"The additional supply of the Phase I Jatiluhur SPAM will not only improve the quality of services for existing customers, but also expand access to clean water to underserved areas," he said.
