AMBON - The Ambon District Court judges sentenced the defendant Fadlun aka Ifal to 2.5 years in prison for possessing, controlling, or storing a package of synthetic tobacco narcotics or often called synthetic tobacco.

"Declaring the defendant legally and convincingly proven guilty of violating Article 127 paragraph (1) letter A of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics", said Ambon District Court Judge, Jenny Tulak, as quoted by Antara, Monday, October 4.

There are also things that are burdensome for the defendant to be sentenced to prison for not supporting the government's program in combating the spread and abuse of drugs.

Meanwhile, the mitigating factor is that the defendant behaved politely during the trial process, admitted and regretted his actions, and the defendant has never been convicted.

The judge's decision was lighter than the demands of the Ambon District Attorney General Elsye Leonu, who in the previous trial demanded that the defendant be sentenced to four years in prison.

The prosecutor said that the defendant Ifal was arrested by the police on Sunday, April 25, 2021 at around 01:00 WIT at his residence around the Tanah Lapang Kecil area, Nusaniwe District, Ambon City, because he had unlawfully and unlawfully controlled, stored, or possessed synthetic tobacco.

From the defendant's hands, the police confiscated a shoe box which contained a large plastic clip containing synthetic tobacco which was packaged in nine folds of paper.
