Bullet From The Central Java Police Detective Penetrates The Legs Of The ATM Burglary Group

JAKARTA - Members of the General Criminal Investigation Department of the Central Java Police were forced to shoot four members of a gang of thieves specializing in breaking into ATMs. Of the six that were raided, four people even wanted to run away when they were arrested.

Director of the General Criminal Investigation of the Central Java Police, Kombes Djuhandani, said this gang had the expertise to break into safes at ATMs using welding tools and drilling machines.

The police managed to sniff out the traces of the perpetrators after investigating the incident of the CIMB Niaga ATM burglary at a modern shop in Kembangarum Hamlet, Mranggen, Demak Regency, on September 12, 2021.

According to him, this gang is the same perpetrator of the ATM burglary at a modern shop in Gunungpati, Semarang City, which occurred on September 18, 2021.

The six perpetrators, four of whom had to be shot in the leg for resisting arrest, consisted of Munajat (46), Suyadi (36), Abdul Rozak (34) each are residents of Grobogan, then Maskur (39) and Muhammad Asri (34) are residents of Lebak, Banten, and Asep Maulana (42) residents of Depok, West Java.

He said these actors have their respective roles when acting.

"Some are in charge of breaking into the walls of the targeted buildings, others are in charge of opening safes with welding tools", he said.

When in action, this gang chooses the ATM it is targeting at random. In addition, this gang also used a truck to cover the location of the ATM that was the target so as not to be suspected.

Meanwhile, the proceeds of crime, he continued, were not only used for extravagance but also to buy a plot of land.

"This is a land certificate. It is still being traced, the money to buy this land came from which crime scene", he said.

For their actions, the suspects were charged with Article 363 of the Criminal Code concerning theft.
