Officially Becoming Deputy Speaker Of The House Of Representatives, Sufmi Dasco Gerindra Admits Lodewijk's Ability Is Quite Tested

JAKARTA - Member of Commission I of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Lodewijk Freidrich Paulus, has been officially inaugurated as Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives to replace Azis Syamsuddin who was involved in a corruption case.

Lodewijk was officially sworn in as chairman of the House of Representatives through the 16th plenary session of the Indonesian House of Representatives at the Nusantara II Building, Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Thursday, September 30.

Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, said Lodewijk has a proven track record and ability as a member of the council. Thus, the former Danjen Kopassus was deemed worthy to fill the post of Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives left by Azis Syamsuddin.

"I think with the existing track record, his abilities are quite proven, he has no doubts as to the chairman of the House of Representatives", said Dasco at the House of Representatives Building, Thursday, September 30.

The daily chairman of Gerindra hopes that Lodewijk can fulfill his duties as Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives for Political and Security Coordinator (Korpolkam).

“I think, by filling the vacancy, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives can carry out their respective duties and responsibilities. So that the vacancies that have existed so far, and then their duties, can be filled", said Dasco.

The Chairman of the Golkar Party, Airlangga, previously revealed several reasons for choosing Lodewijk to be the replacement for Azis Syamsuddin, who is now stumbling over a bribery case and a suspect in the KPK.

"Of course, from a political party, in terms of seniority ranking, the number two is the secretary-general. Second, Mr. Lodewijk is already in Commission I, one of which is the Korpolkam", said Airlangga at the House of Representatives Building, Wednesday, September 29.

Moreover, said Airlangga, the decision has been communicated with all seniors from the Golkar Party and the discussion has been going on for quite a while.

"So it has been discussed with Mr. Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Aburizal Bakrie, Chairman of the Board of Experts, Agung Laksono, Chairman of the Honorary Board, Mr. Akbar Tanjung, and also the Advisory Board, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan", he said.
