DENPASAR - Immigration Detention Center (Rudenim) officers in Denpasar, Bali deported two foreign nationals who overstayed in Bali. The two foreigners who were expelled from Bali also committed crimes.

The two foreigners are Ernest Okechukwu Okanya (30) from Nigeria and Souleymane Konate (37) from Côte d'Ivoire.

"The two foreigners were deported for violating Article 78 paragraph (3) of the Indonesian Law Number 6 of 2011, concerning Immigration, which was subsequently deported and proposed to be included in the deterrence list to the Directorate General of Immigration", said Head of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights Bali, Jamaruli Manihuruk in Denpasar, Wednesday, September 29.

The two foreigners were arrested in Banjar Penestanan Kaja, Sayan Village, Ubud District, Gianyar Regency, Bali, on Thursday, September 2 by Immigration Officer Class I TPI, Denpasar. The arrests were made because 2 foreigners did not have immigration stay permits and overstayed.

In addition to violating the immigration administration, the two foreigners also committed fraud against fellow foreigners, under the guise of claiming to be members of the military and asking for money from abroad.

The proceeds of the fraud are used for online soccer gambling. The confiscated evidence related to this case were a laptop, cellphone, and several driver's license cards.

Foreigner Ernest Okechukwu Okanya is known to have come to Indonesia on December 17, 2019, while Souleymane Konate entered Indonesia on March 15, 2020.

"The two foreigners entered Indonesia using a visa-free socio-cultural visit. After the arrests were made, both were handed over to the Denpasar Rudenim on March 3.

Jamaruli said the two foreigners were detained for 22 days at the Denpasar Rudenim. Their deportation process was directly escorted by officers from the Denpasar Rudenim to Bali's I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, on Tuesday, September 28.
