JAKARTA - The Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) rejected the application for the status of justice collaborator (JC) from the former Deputy Head of the National Nutrition Agency, Sony Sonjaya, in the case of alleged corruption in the management of the Free Nutritious Meal or MBG program.

The rejection was made because Sony was considered not to meet the requirements as a justice collaborator as regulated in Law Number 3 of 2026 concerning the Protection of Witnesses and Victims, as well as Government Regulation Number 24 of 2025 concerning Special Handling and Awarding of Witnesses to Perpetrators.

Deputy Chairman of the LPSK Susilaningtias said the rejection was based on the results of an assessment of the provisions in the law.

"Mr. Sony does not meet the requirements as a JC because he does not meet the requirements in the Witness and Victim Protection Law, Law Number 3 of 2026 and PP on JC, PP 24 of 2025," said Susilaningtias as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, July 14.

He explained that one of the conditions that had not been met was the lack of important information regarding the involvement of other parties, both to the LPSK and investigators.

In addition, based on the results of the assessment, Sony was considered the main perpetrator in the case that was being investigated so that it did not meet the requirements to obtain the status of justice collaborator.

"First, it relates to the important nature of the information, so the information that has been conveyed so far has not been conveyed to the LPSK publicly regarding the involvement of other parties that are larger, and secondly, it has not been conveyed to the investigators. Then the second is not the main perpetrator, this is the one concerned in the investigation process is the main perpetrator," he said.

Susilaningtias explained that LPSK also did not find any concerns about the threats experienced by the applicant or the commitment to return the results of the criminal act.

"Regarding the results of wealth. The willingness to return the results of wealth from the results of criminal acts has also not been submitted so we have decided that the requirements for justice collaboratordan then LPSK rejected the request from the person concerned," he said.

Previously, Sony Sonjaya's lawyer, Krisna Murti, stated that his client had submitted a JC application to the LPSK regarding the alleged corruption case in the management of the MBG program handled by the Attorney General's Office.

According to him, the submission was made because Sony claimed to have revealed dozens of names suspected of being involved in the case and needed security guarantees for himself and his family, while waiting for the LPSK's decision on the application.
