JAKARTA - The Indonesian Political Indicators Institute presented the results of a survey on public evaluations of the handling of the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result, public satisfaction with the performance of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) increased this September compared to the survey last July.

The Executive Director of Indonesian Political Indicators, Burhanuddin Muhtadi, explained that in July, 5.5 percent of respondents said they were very satisfied and 55.5 percent of those who answered were quite satisfied. Meanwhile, in September, respondents who said they were very satisfied were 4.8 percent and quite satisfied were 57.0 percent.

"So in September, those who were satisfied or quite satisfied with the president in dealing with COVID-19 reached 62 percent if I rounded it up. Meanwhile, in July it was around 61 percent, it rose slightly," said Burhanuddin online, Sunday, September 26.

The good news, he continued, is that respondents who expressed dissatisfaction with the president's performance also decreased.

In July, those who expressed dissatisfaction were 30.1 percent and not satisfied at all 6.4 percent. Meanwhile, in September, those who expressed dissatisfaction were 31.8 percent and not satisfied at all by 2.9 percent.

"Then those who are dissatisfied or dissatisfied. In July it was around 36 percent. In September it reached 34 percent. So those who were not satisfied fell compared to July," he explained.

Burhanuddin admitted that he did not know the reasons that made the satisfaction increase even though the number was still very small. However, he suspects this is because the Community Activity Restriction (PPKM) policy has had a positive impact on public health.

"But the point is that there is an increase in satisfaction with the president regarding the handling of COVID-19, especially when we look at the survey in September," he concluded.

This survey was conducted to 1.200 respondents via telephone contact from 17 to 21 September 2021. Meanwhile, the method used was simple random sampling, using a margin of error of around 2.9 percent at a 95 percent confidence level.
