PPKM Java-Bali Extended Until October 4, No More Regions Apply PPKM Level 4

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo has extended the implementation of restrictions on community activities (PPKM) on the islands of Java-Bali. PPKM Java-Bali has been extended for 2 weeks from September 21 to October 4, 2021.

This was conveyed by the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, during the announcement of the Java-Bali PPKM extension.

"Based on the existing developments, the change in PPKM level is in effect for 2 weeks for Java and Bali, but evaluations are still carried out every week to anticipate changes that occur so quickly", Luhut said in a virtual press conference, Monday, September 20.

Luhut said several regions experienced a decline in the PPKM assessment level. In fact, currently, there are no regions that apply PPKM Level 4.

"Currently, there are no more urban districts that are at level 4 in Java-Bali. So all of them are at (PPKM) Levels 3 and 2", he said.

Luhut said, currently the COVID-19 pandemic situation continues to show improvement. The epidemiological estimation results of the Indonesia University Faculty of Medicine show that Indonesia's effective reproductive rate for the first time during this pandemic has been below 1, which is 0.98.

"This figure means that every 1 case of COVID-19 infects an average of 0.98 people or the number of cases will continue to decrease. This figure can be interpreted that the Indonesian COVID-19 pandemic has been controlled", said Luhut.

Today, new COVID-19 cases increased by 1,932, recovered cases increased to 6799, and 166 died with testing of 150,000.

Meanwhile, there are less than 60 thousand active cases. Then, daily cases fell to 98 percent from their peak in July

"We must be grateful for these various achievements. However, the President at the meeting this morning reminded us all to remain vigilant and careful", explained Luhut.

It is known, in the implementation of PPKM since last week, the government lowered the province of Bali to Level 3. So from 11 cities/districts level 4 last week, today the number has decreased to only 3 cities/regencies.
