Gerindra Opens Opportunities For The Duet Of Riza Patria And Gibran Rakabuming Raka In The 2024 DKI Regional Elections

JAKARTA - The term of office of the Governor of DKI Jakarta will end in 2022. However, the election for the Governor (Pilgub) of DKI will be held in 2024, following the schedule for the 2024 Simultaneous Pilkada.

A member of the Gerindra faction of the DKI DPRD, Syarif, said that his party has great potential to carry Ahmad Riza Patria to become a candidate for the upcoming 2024 DKI Governor. Given, at this time Riza has served as Deputy Governor of DKI and Chairman of DPD Gerindra DKI.

"Of course it is Pak Riza, the Deputy Governor who will be nominated for the DKI gubernatorial election. I will be at the forefront who will ask Riza to run through the Gerindra Party. Indeed, the party's decision encourages the chairman of the DPD to provide an opportunity to nominate him," said Syarif to VOI, Saturday, September 18.

Regarding the Jakarta governor's stock exchange, rumors are currently developing that Solo Mayor Gibran Rakabuming Raka will run for the next 2024 DKI Jakarta gubernatorial election. In response to this, Syarif opened up opportunities for Riza and Gibran to pair up in the political contestation.

"There is a very good chance (Riza and Gibran pair up), but later we will see what the mechanism is like. Politics is dynamic. But in principle, these two figures are good and in my view these two figures have potential," he said.

Syarif views that candidates who will later advance in the gubernatorial election must show their achievements. Given, Jakarta is the capital city of the country with quite complex challenges. According to Syarif, Gibran already has this opportunity because he has experience in leading the city of Solo.

"Jakarta needs people who have achievements, who have breakthroughs. Mas Gibran is very capable (forward to Pilgub DKI). Slowly but surely he has shown his achievements," said Syarif.

It is known, rumors of Gibran being pushed forward in the upcoming 2024 DKI Jakarta gubernatorial election contestation are increasingly rising to the public surface. This rumor developed after Gibran left for Jakarta to receive the Top BUMD Awards 2021 and fulfilled the invitation for a blood donation event from PWNU DKI Jakarta.

Rumors spread even more when Gibran praised the Governor of DKI Anies Baswedan regarding the handling of the COVID-19 pandemic in the capital city. In fact, Gibran considers Anies a role model for other regional heads.
