JAKARTA - The Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police said that hundreds of billions of cash were confiscated in the case of money laundering (TPPU) from illegal drug trafficking.

"While what is ongoing, God willing, we can also confiscate several assets, there is a sports car, then 2 housing units in Pantai Indah Kapuk, then an apartment and land", said Director of Special Economic Crimes, Brigadier General Helmy Santika, to reporters, Thursday, September 16.

In fact, it is possible that as the investigation process progresses, other assets that constitute money laundering offenses will be found.

Helmi also explained how the DP suspect hid the money from the crime. He tried to play stocks to open a deposit.

"The way the DP suspect can hide his origin is also various kinds of him entering an account, he buys insurance products, deposits, then Ori, shares and so on", said Helmy.

It was previously reported that the National Police's Criminal Investigation Unit revealed a criminal case of money laundering originating from illegal drug trafficking. In this case, the amount of money confiscated was IDR 531 billion by naming a suspect.

"From a search of the accounts in question, there are 9 banks. We can trace that there is IDR 531 billion that we can confiscate", said the National Police's Criminal Investigation Officer, Komjen Agus Andrianto.

The suspect, in this case, has the initials DP. The disclosure of this case began with the investigation of a Mojokerto resident who died from taking drugs.
