Five People Killed in Drone Attack in Russia's Moscow Region

JAKARTA - At least five people were killed and six others were injured in a drone attack last night in the Moscow Region, Governor Andrey Vorobyov said.

"This morning, the air defense forces managed to repel an attack by a drone in the Moscow Region," he said on the MAX app, quoted by TASS (4/8).

"Unfortunately, there were casualties and injuries. According to initial information, five people were killed and six others were injured. All those affected are receiving the necessary medical treatment," continued Governor Vorobyov.

"I express my sincere condolences to the families and loved ones of those who died," he said.

In a post on Governor Vorobyov's Telegram, he confirmed that the most severe damage occurred in Chekhov City District and that the drone attack triggered several fires in the Novosyolki industrial zone, as quoted by Anadolu.

He said the large warehouse fire was successfully extinguished by emergency teams, although the electrical substation and administration building were also damaged.

Meanwhile, in Solnyshkovo village, the debris of the fallen drone damaged a private house and a vehicle, although no casualties were reported.

The governor added that the Russian military continued to attack targets in Volokolamsk, Klin, Chekhov and Serebryano-Prudsky Districts.

Separately, Kyiv has not issued an official statement regarding last night's attack.
