JAKARTA - The government has allowed cinemas in Jakarta to open from today. The chairman of the All-Indonesian Cinema Management Association (GPBSI) Djonny Syafruddin said that not all cinemas in the capital were already operating.
Djonny said, the cinema inside the mall has been opened for visitors who want to watch movies. However, the cinema which is in its own building is not yet operational.
"Right now, there are cinemas that have been opened, some have not. Cinemas that stay alone, such as Metropole (Megaria) and Planet Hollywood, cannot be opened," Djonny said when contacted, Thursday, September 16.
Djonny explained, apart from Jakarta, a number of cinemas in Bogor, Depok and Tangerang City have also been opened. Then, cinemas outside Greater Jakarta such as Yogyakarta have also been operating.
"But tomorrow there will be more because every day there are developments. Currently, (cinemas in) potential areas have been opened, though. Only Medan has not yet," he said.
Separately, Plt. Head of the DKI Tourism and Creative Economy Agency (Disparekraf) Gumilar Ekalaya said that his party would monitor the opening of cinemas on a regular basis.
This supervision is carried out to ensure that the implementation of health protocols is carried out by every visitor and employee of the cinema.
"If our supervision is routine. We always go to the field to check whether in terms of the prokes it has been implemented, whether PeduliLindung has been implemented," said Gumilar.
"God willing, if the cinema is still more orderly, yes, because usually the audience is also quite critical. If there are procedures that are violated, usually they will immediately inform us. We will definitely check," he continued.
Currently, operating theaters require that visitors must have been vaccinated against COVID-19. Access to the cinema using the PeduliLindung application as a screening of visitors.
Health protocols must be obeyed by all parties in the cinema. For example, the audience capacity is limited to 50 percent in one room, including keeping the distance between the seats between spectators.
