LGBT Ads Appear Targeting Children, The PKS Fraction Of The DPR Suggests KPI

JAKARTA - Members of Commission I of the DPR from the Sukamta PKS faction are pushing for the revision of the Broadcasting Law so that videos on the internet via YouTube are included in the scope of supervision of the Indonesian Broadcasting Commission. Sukamta's statement commented on the advertisement about LGBT on one of the YouTube kids channels.

"We encourage that in the revision of the Broadcasting Law, we can arrange for videos on the internet via YouTube, for example, to be included in the scope of supervision of the Indonesian Broadcasting Commission," Sukamta said in a statement, Wednesday, September 15.

This, he continued, must be regulated so that sanctions do not only target anyone who downloads similar shows on the internet, but also sanctions on internet service providers or providers, in this case including YouTube as a private legal entity.

"I really regret this because it is not in accordance with the teachings of religion, norms and the identity of the Indonesian nation. This cannot be allowed to continue, because they are targeting children who are the next generation of the nation's future. What do you want this country to be? later?" said the people's representative from the Yogyakarta Special Region electoral district.

He said, this clearly violated the law, especially the Pornography Law (UU RI No. 44 of 2008) and the ITE Law (UU RI No. 19 of 2016). The government must act swiftly to enforce the law. The Ministry of Communication and Informatics must always be alert to screening and blocking similar content on the internet.

The Deputy Chair of the PKS Faction explained that the criminal threat in Article 37 of the Pornography Law regulates by adding 1/3 of the maximum penalty of imprisonment for a maximum of 12 years and a maximum fine of 6 billion rupiah for targeting children. The prohibition of pornography also includes deviant sexual activities such as this LGBT.

Article 45 of the ITE Law also expressly prohibits anyone from transmitting and distributing content that violates decency with a penalty of 6 years in prison and a maximum fine of 1 billion rupiah.
