Motorbike Stolen By A Man Confessing As Police Turns Out To Be Illegal, The Case Ends In Peace

JAKARTA - The Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Cengkareng Police, Insp. Bintang, confirmed the incident regarding the video of the arrest of the alleged motorbike snatcher by residents which had gone viral on social media Instagram with the @enewsnow account.

In the caption of the video, it contains the narration, "CONFESSING TO BE A COP, THIS MAN WAS DETERMINED TO TAKE SOMEONE'S MOTORBIKE".

The Head of unit also confirmed that the perpetrator claimed to be a police officer.

"Yes, that's right (admitting to the police)," he said when contacted by VOI, Monday, September 13.

Although the perpetrator has been handed over to the Cengkareng Police, the victim and the perpetrator could not show proof of ownership of the motorcycle. It was later discovered that the motorbike did not have a motorized vehicle registration certificate.

"There is no clarity regarding the ownership of the motorbike. Because there is no proof of ownership from both parties. Yes (a fake motorbike)," said Insp. Bintang.

Kanit said the perpetrator was detained at the Cengkareng Police. However, he continued, because there was no clear document related to the ownership of the vehicle from both parties, the case could not be made by an LP (police report) related to the vehicle.

"Both parties made statements and returned to their respective families," he said.
