MEDAN - The joint SAR team found a female student who had been lost in the Sei Berte river, Rumah Galuh Village, Sei Bingei District, Langkat Regency, North Sumatra.

The victim was named Khirunnisa Alhady Hasibuan (20), a resident of Sentang, East Kisaran City District, Asahan Regency.

The Commander of the Rescue Team for the Medan SAR office, Ardika Ermansyah Putra, said the victim was found on Sunday, September 12 morning.

"The victim was found dead, about 200 meters from the initial location where the victim drifted and was at a depth of 2 meters," said Ardika.

Currently, said Ardika, the victim has been evacuated and immediately handed over to the family for further burial in the funeral home.

The victim was swept away by the current of the Sei Berte River on Saturday, September 11. At that time the victim was engrossed in swimming with 3 of his friends at the tourist attraction.

But suddenly, the river water rose and overflowed to a height of 1 meter above the edge of the river.

"At the time of the incident the victim was standing on a rock with his partner and suddenly the river water was quite swift and immediately hit the victim and his partner. The victim's companion managed to survive but unfortunately the victim was carried away by the river current," said Head of the Medan SAR Office, Toto Mulyono.

At that time, local tour guides immediately helped the victims. However, the swift water of the river caused the victim to be released, causing the victim to be carried away by the current.
