MS's Attorney Explains His Client's Meeting With The Suspected Perpetrator, Starting From Calls For Peace To Revoking Reports

JAKARTA - MS's attorney, Rony Hutahaen, said that until now his party and other MS's legal team are still submitting cases of alleged sexual harassment and bullying experienced by MS to the investigators of the Central Jakarta Metro Police Criminal Investigation Unit.

"The marathon examination process is continuing at the Central Jakarta Metro Police. We as victims have applied for protection to the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) and the National Human Rights Commission. To this day, we are still being questioned at the Central Jakarta Police," said Rony when contacted by VOI, Friday, September 10.

Rony also emphasized that until now there has been no peace issue between MS and the alleged perpetrators of sexual harassment and bullying. However, Rony acknowledged that there was a discussion on a meeting between MS and the alleged perpetrators at the KPI office on Tuesday 7 September and Wednesday 8 September, yesterday.

"Today we have answered what we suspected. That the five alleged perpetrators requested and offered a plan for our client (victim MS) by calling him to the KPI office on Tuesday and Wednesday to talk about work. But in fact, after arriving there last Wednesday, our client was offered a peace plan with 4 conditions", said Rony.

The four requirements, he continued, it was written that MS as the victim must withdraw the police report at the Central Jakarta Police, MS must convey to the media that bullying and sexual harassment never happened, MS conveyed to the media to apologize, and clarify to the media and netizens that the client we have to apologize and admit we were wrong.

"These are methods that cannot be tolerated in this matter. We consider this to be disrespectful to the ongoing legal process at the Central Jakarta Police", he said.

Meanwhile, regarding the results of MS's meeting with the alleged perpetrators at the KPI office on Wednesday, Rony said that MS had not yet (signed) peace.

"No, there is no peace yet. MS has not (signed). I have read and adhered to the draft of the peace letter. I told MS not to sign it, because it is wrong and misleading for our clients", he said.

Until now, continued Rony, there has been no signing and no request for peace from MS. Rony said that the request for peace actually came from five alleged perpetrators of sexual harassment.

"Initially there was a request for peace from the five alleged perpetrators. Until now, we are still at the Central Jakarta Police being questioned and the legal process continues so far", said Rony.

As previously reported, the victim of sexual harassment at the Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPI) office, MS, has met with the alleged perpetrators to discuss peace efforts. The meeting was held at the KPI Office, Gambir, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, September 8, yesterday.

The lawyer for the alleged perpetrators of RT and EO, Tegar Putuhena, confirmed the meeting. He claimed the meeting was initiated by the victim.

"Our client was invited to the KPI yesterday. Not on the initiative of our client. The one who invited from the other side with this information was a request for peace from Mr. MS", Tegar said when contacted, Thursday, September 9.

Tegar said that he as a legal representative did not participate in the meeting. Because MS also came without his legal representative.
