Viral Doctors In Enrekang, South Sulawesi Don't Believe In COVID-19, IDI Until MUI Asks Police To Move

JAKARTA - A number of figures in Enrekang Regency, South Sulawesi, supported the police in enforcing the law regarding the statement by the doctor Andiany Adil who claimed not to believe in COVID-19.

The chairman of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) of Enrekang Regency, Amir Mustafa, said the statement letter which was widely circulated on social media, especially in Enrekang, made the public uneasy because it came out of the mouth of a doctor.

"We appeal to the public not to easily believe the widely circulated statement letter because it contradicts the current reality situation," Amir said in a statement quoted by era.id, Monday, September 6.

Since more than a year of the pandemic in Indonesia and almost all over the world, many people have died due to COVID-19. According to him, from the reality that is happening in Indonesia and other countries, the statement by the doctor named Adiany Adil is considered very contrary to medical science and the current situation.

"This COVID-19 is in all countries and has become a pandemic. This statement is against the principles of medical science. Therefore, we urge the public not to worry and continue to follow the government's advice because it is the best for all of us," said Amir .

The head of the GP Ansor of Enrekang Regency, Mukhlis, said the same thing. He said the pandemic was still ongoing and in Enrekang many people had died from COVID-19. Adiany Adil's colleagues also conveyed the same thing, including the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI) Enrekang Branch.

IDI Enrekang Branch said the problem was quite troubling, considering that he was a member of the medical profession and was still registered as a member of IDI Enrekang.

However, functionally, the registration certificate (STR) in question has not been valid since 2016, so the practice cannot be carried out and must be extended.

"The statement issued by the person concerned clearly contradicts what IDI understands. Such a statement will have an effect on our profession as a doctor," said the Chair of IDI Enrekang, Hamrullah.

According to him, from a personal point of view, Andiany Adil has long been known to have a strong character and often disagrees with his colleagues.

"From the beginning, he had a fairly strong character. Doctor Andiany had not extended his STR since 2016," said Hamrullah.

The Head of the Enrekang District Health Office, Sutrisno, said that in terms of the actions taken, Adiany Adil could not be said to be suffering from a mental disorder. Without a certificate from the authorities, in this case a psychiatrist.

"As of April, the person concerned is no longer registered as a student at the Faculty of Medicine, Unhas Makassar in accordance with a decree issued by the Dean of Hasanuddin University. The person concerned has never again attended/entered work and there has been a warning letter from the Secretary of the Enrekang Regency," he explained. .

According to Sutrisno, Adiany Adil, who is also an ASN of the Enrekang Regency Government, has never reported the results of his teaching and learning activities at Unhas to the Enrekang Regency Government. This obligation must be carried out every six months.

During the lecture process, Adiany Adil also often caused controversy. His behavior also often speaks for itself, and when dealing with patients, he is often fickle and does not want to use drugs in the hospital.

"Based on his behavior, the person concerned can now be dismissed, because he has not carried out his duties for more than a year," he said.
