The Ahmadiyya Congregation's Place Of Worship In Sintang Is Destroyed By Masses, Junimart: Consequences Of 3 Ministers' Decree

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairperson of Commission II of the DPR RI, Junimart Girsang, asked the public not to be provoked by the attacks and destruction of places of worship and buildings belonging to the Indonesian Ahmadiyah Congregation (JAI), in Balai Gana Village, Temunuk District, Sintang Regency, West Kalimantan (West Kalimantan).

"This incident must not ignite the emotions of any group, because the state is always present through law enforcement officials (APH) and is handling it," said Junimart Girsang when confirmed in Jakarta, Antara, Sunday, September 5.

The community, continued Junimart, should fully hand over the destruction case to the government. For residents outside the Sintang area, West Kalimantan should not be provoked and let the legal process resolve it.

Based on information obtained by Junimart, the incident was not an inter-citizen conflict but an alliance between the people in Sintang and the Ahmadiyya community or congregation. The government also did not allow the closure of the Ahmadiyya house of worship.

"The Sintang District Government, APH and the ummah alliance are actually only implementing the consistency and consequences of the Joint Decree (SKB) of 3 Ministers of 2008, namely the Minister of Religion, the Minister of Home Affairs, and the Attorney General. As far as I remember the SKB concerns the prohibition of Ahmadiyah activities," he said again.

Therefore, Junimart asked the Sintang Regency Government and law enforcement officers to act proactively to maintain conduciveness in the area. Previously, there were attacks and destruction of places of worship and property (JAI) in West Kalimantan on Friday, September 3.

A group of people using stones and bamboo damaged the mosque building located in Balai Gana Village, Temunuk District, Sintang Regency.
