Due To Stressed, A Student In Malang Tries To Jump From Soekarno-Hatta Bridge

MALANG - A student is suspected of trying to commit suicide by trying to jump from the Soekarno-Hatta road bridge, Malang City, East Java.

Police personnel at the scene managed to thwart the intention of the Malang youth to commit suicide.

At first, the young man looked dazed and looked like he was about to jump off a bridge. Residents who saw it then reported it to the police. A moment later, the police came and stopped the action.

"The action was first noticed from a resident's report at around 09.15 a.m. local time. When approached, this young man looked dazed and planned to jump in", said Acting Lowokwaru Police Chief Sutomo, Wednesday, September 1.

Sutomo said this young man still looked dazed and occasionally struggled and cried. To the police, the young man admitted that he was stressed thinking about the final semester tuition fees.

Before arriving at the bridge, he walked from his home in Dau District, Malang Regency. At this time, the young man was immediately taken to the Lowokwaru Police Headquarters to be calmed down.

This young man also told that his mother died some time ago.

"Since then he has been under pressure to think about everything by himself without any friends to confide in", said Sutomo.
