Ancol Will Develop Recreation Like Disneyland From The Reclamation Project

JAKARTA - PT Pembangunan Jaya Ancol will develop the Dunia Fantasi (Dufan) recreation area such as the Disneyland theme park. This development uses a 35 hectare land expansion from the reclamation permit issued by DKI Governor Anies Baswedan.

Then, the permit for the expansion of another recreational area covering an area of 120 hectares is for the expansion of land in the Ancol area. Based on the Decree of the Governor of DKI Jakarta Number 237/2020, Ancol obtained a permit to expand the recreation area with a total area of 155 hectares.

Based on the results of direct monitoring to the Ancol area, Chairman of Commission B of the DKI DPRD Abdul Aziz said that the Dufan area's land widening project was named K Island. In general, the concept of the vehicle added would be a sea theme.

"If there is Disneyland abroad. So, they want to build a vehicle in the sea. Later we will elaborate on what it is, based on monitoring results," said Aziz when contacted, Wednesday, July 1.

Aziz said the DKI DPRD's Economic Affairs Commission would review the funding scheme and legal aspects of the reclamation plan in Ancol. In addition, they will discuss handling environmental impacts that will occur.

"Later, there should be no negative environmental impacts," he said.

Adding, Member of Commission B DPRD DKI Eneng Malianasari said marine rides are also meeting facilities, incentives, conventions, and exhibitions (MICE). The MICE facility will be located on the Ancol reclamation area of 120 hectares under the name Pulau L.

"MICE is a tourist destination in a building. However, he (Ancol party, red) did not mention it explicitly," said Eneng.

Eneng questioned the impact of the losses that will be suffered by Jakarta coastal fishermen due to the reclamation construction. This is because it is feared that fishermen will find it increasingly difficult to find fish at close range.

However, said Eneng, Ancol claimed that the reclamation would not harm fishermen. This is because since the beginning there was almost no fish habitat that swam in the water area where the reclamation land would be buried.

"From the explanation there, there are not many fish there. Besides, that is not the point where people take fish. Only, if someone worries about the fish, it needs consideration," said Eneng.

Anies still doesn't want to comment

Since the news of permits for the expansion of reclamation land developed, there has been criticism from the People's Coalition for Fisheries Justice (KIARA). KIARA Secretary General Susan Herawati assessed that the expansion of the recreational area in Ancol will encourage damage to the water area and the place for taking sand material.

"The expansion of Ancol Beach will further exacerbate the damage to the two areas at once, the water area in Jakarta Bay and the location where sand material is extracted for dredging. The aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems will suffer destruction," said Susan.

Susan said, granting reclamation expansion permits for recreational areas on Ancol Beach is an irony for Anies' statements so far, who promised to stop the entire reclamation process in Jakarta Bay. However, the fact is that it has even given Ancol permission to expand the land.

The granting of reclamation permits for the expansion of the recreation area on Ancol Beach, Susan continued, will only strengthen the commercialization practices of the area's developers and managers.

"Coastal, coastal and marine areas belong to all Indonesian citizens. Anyone has the right to access. The granting of this permit will force people who want to enter and access this area to pay. This is a commercialization practice that must be fought," he said.

However, until now, Anies still does not want to open his voice regarding the Ancol reclamation permit which has raised such criticism. "Later, explain it completely," said Anies briefly.
