KPAI: 79.54 Percent Of Schools Ready To Hold PTM

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) said that 79.54 percent of supervised schools or madrasas are ready to hold face-to-face learning (PTM).

"In 2021, we will carry out PTM supervision in a number of schools in the region, a total of 46 schools. As a result, 79.54 percent of schools that are supervised are ready to hold PTM during the COVID-19 pandemic," said KPAI Commissioner, Retno Listyarti at the National Coordination Meeting. themed "The results of KPAI supervision related to PTM Preparation and the Vaccination Program for 12-17 Years Old Children Based on School Centers" were monitored online in Jakarta, reported by Antara, Monday, August 30.

He said that the supervised schools were carried out in seven provinces and 12 city districts.

He stated the monitoring indicators made by KPAI, including infrastructure for adapting new habits, SOPs or protocols for adapting new habits, and other supporting factors.

On that occasion, Retno conveyed that KPAI supports PTM during the pandemic with a number of conditions, namely that schools or madrasas must be ensured that they have fulfilled all the requirements and needs for the implementation of limited PTM, including ensuring health protocols to prevent the transmission of COVID-19.

"If it has not been fulfilled, the local government must help fulfill it," he said.

Second, schools or madrasas must ensure that at least 70 percent of school residents have been vaccinated. Therefore, the central government must ensure that the acceleration and provision of child vaccinations is evenly distributed throughout Indonesia," said Retno.

Third, local governments must be honest with their regional positivity rate, with the provisions according to WHO that a positivity rate below 5 percent is safe to open face-to-face schools.

Fourth, because PJJ and PTM are carried out simultaneously, there needs to be a mapping of the material for each subject.

"Easy material and being given at PJJ with the help of modules, and material that is difficult to convey during PTM so that there is direct interaction and dialogue between students and educators," he said.

Fifth, the KPAI for schools is ready for the area, ready for the school, ready for the teacher, ready for the parents, and ready for the child. "If one of the five is not ready, it is better to postpone opening face-to-face schools during the COVID-19 pandemic," he said.

Sixth, KPAI encourages the Education Office and the Provincial/Regency/City Health Office to carry out a memorandum of understanding with health facilities regarding school assistance in PTM and child vaccination. "Schools need to receive education and direction in the preparation of health protocols in education units," said Retno.
