Even Though PPKM Jakarta Level 3, Cyclists Are Still Prohibited In Odd-even Areas

JAKARTA - The Traffic Directorate of Polda Metro Jaya has confirmed that it has not allowed cyclists to cross the Surdiman-Thamrin area or odd-even points. The reason, to prevent crowds.

"It's still not allowed for cyclists because there's a concern that the cyclists will cause a crowd," said the Director of Lantas Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Sambodo Purnomo Yogo to reporters, Thursday, August 26.

Although currently Jakarta has entered PPKM level 3, continued Sambodo, it does not mean that people can roam freely. Because, the potential for an increase in the positive number of COVID-19 is still there.

Therefore, people are asked to remain vigilant. Especially with the implementation of strict health protocols (prokes).

"Indeed, we have been able to get through the second wave of COVID-19 in Jakarta quite well, but we must not be careless, we still have to be vigilant," said Sambodo.

In fact, Sambodo gave an example of countries in Europe which are currently facing the third wave of the spread of COVID-19. For that reason, the ban on cycling in the Sudirman-Thamrin area was enforced.

"Therefore, all kinds of activities and activities that have the potential to cause crowds must be avoided," said Sambodo.
