Ministry Of Health Asks 6 Provinces To Beware Of Delta Variants: Aceh, North Sumatra, Lampung, West Java, NTT And Central Sulawesi

JAKARTA- Spokesperson for the COVID-19 Vaccination Ministry of Health, dr. Siti Nadia Tarmizi stated that six provinces in Indonesia were asked to be more vigilant and increase testing and tracing activities.

"Currently, the Delta variant is a variant that has a high transmission rate and has the potential to cause severity, which is the dominant variant in Indonesia", said Nadia, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, August 25.

Nadia revealed that the six provinces detected as having the highest cases of the Delta variant were Aceh, North Sumatra, Lampung, West Java, East Nusa Tenggara, and Central Sulawesi.

In addition, three provinces have not reported any Delta variants, namely Southeast Sulawesi, West Sulawesi, and North Maluku.

“For regions that have not found the Delta variant, in this case, there are three provinces. Not that there are no variants in the area. Remember, the pandemic knows no regional boundaries, so we must continue to carry out the same, high vigilance", said Nadia.

To overcome the increase in active cases in all regions, his party carried out several effective prevention efforts to prevent transmissions, such as through testing, tracking, isolation, strengthening health protocols, and vaccinations.

“We are trying to get to know our enemy in better and more precise control. As we mentioned earlier, the COVID-19 pandemic and virus know no administrative boundaries", continued Nadia.

He appealed to the public. If anyone feels pain such as shortness of breath, immediately report to the local health center or use telemedicine facilities to get advice or the necessary medicines.

"Remember, don't decide to self-isolate without consulting health workers. We know that the Delta variant is a variant that accelerates the severity of symptoms. So make sure not to delay going to a hospital or health facility if symptoms become severe or become more congested", said Nadia.
