Coalition Political Parties And PAN Call Jokowi On The Track Overcoming The COVID-19 Pandemic

JAKARTA - Secretary-General of the PDI Party, Hasto Kristiyanto, said that all general chairmen of the coalition supporting the government and the Partai Amanat Nasional (PAN) agreed that President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) was on the right track in dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic.

This was conveyed after a meeting between the coalition parties supporting the Jokowi-Ma'ruf Amin government at the State Palace which was held today, Wednesday, August 25. Apart from PDIP and PAN, other parties that attended were Gerindra, NasDem, Golar, PKB, and PPP.

"What has been done by President Jokowi in overcoming the pandemic is on the right track", Hasto said as quoted from his written statement.

During the meeting, President Jokowi briefly explained several things related to handling COVID-19 and it can be concluded that good cooperation between high state institutions has maintained national economic growth and was able to build optimism.

Moreover, several achievements have occurred, both in the provision of vaccinations, increasing hospital capacity, and in the budget reallocation program.

The general chairmen of political parties who were present, said Hasto, would continue to provide support for President Jokowi's policies, including to encourage the movement of national economic growth.

In addition, they have also seen the seriousness of the government in dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic and compared it with what happened in the country with other countries such as the United States, India, Germany, and Brazil.

"However, although the pandemic is still difficult to predict when it will end, the balance between the implementation of PPKM (Community Activity Restrictions) in several regions and economic growth continues, especially ensuring how the state is present by encouraging the people's economy", said Hasto.

In addition, Hasto also mentioned the presence of PAN in this routine meeting. According to him, the presence of parties outside the government coalition shows more and more cooperation between components of the nation and gives more positive energy to the Jokowi-Ma'ruf Amin government.

"From the dialogue between the general chairmen of political parties and President Jokowi, besides strengthening optimism, it is also a good tradition in Pancasila democracy", he concluded.
