JAKARTA - The threat of imprisonment for 20 years awaits ITY. This man is facing the law because he was determined to be a courier as well as a drug dealer of methamphetamine. ITY was arrested by the DKI Jakarta BNNP.

ITY admitted that he was forced to become a narcotics courier because he was a victim of the reduction in the workforce due to PPKM during the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Previously, I worked as an electrical installation. Then there was a reduction in employees due to PPKM. The reduction has been almost a year," admitted ITY to VOI reporters at BNNP DKI Jakarta, Tuesday, August 24.

This man who already has a family said he had no way out to provide for the economy. The dead end of being a narcotics courier forced him to choose because he needed a job to support himself and his family.

"It's been 6 months selling drugs. This is the first time I've been caught. I got 9 million wages from my (city) boss in one shuttle (shabu)," he said.

In its action, ITY acts as a meth picker and breaks it into medium-sized packages.

"From the order above. My goods are broken and waiting for instructions (sales) from above. I don't know the buyer," he said.

ITY admitted to taking the narcotics from a place that had been agreed upon by his boss through the WhatsApp (WA) application.

"Picked up at my boss's rental. Picked up in the afternoon by motorbike. Being a courier like this at the invitation of my friend who is still a DPO," said the man who has been carrying out illegal work for 6 months.

Head of BNNP DKI Jakarta Brigadier General Tagam Sinaga said the ITY suspect was part of the Aceh - Jakarta network syndicate. He was arrested by members of the DKI BNNP in the rented area of Bintaro Village, Pesanggrahan District, South Jakarta

"2.2 kilograms of methamphetamine belonging to the suspect ITY was confiscated. A digital scale and 2 mobile phones," he said.

Even though it is still the COVID-19 pandemic, Brigadier General Tagam ensures that these drug dealers already have a subscription to narcotics buyers.

"The target buyers are their networks, certain people they sell. The price of a kilo of methamphetamine is 1.5 billion," he said.

Until now, the DKI Jakarta BNNP is still developing the arrest of this methamphetamine dealer.

"We will continue to develop them to the top of their movers. The suspect in ITY is threatened with 20 years in prison," he said.
