JAKARTA - The Indonesian Migrant Workers Protection Agency (BP2MI) rescued three prospective migrant workers who would be illegally sent to the Middle East while at Terminal III of Soekarno-Hatta Airport (Soetta), Monday, August 23 yesterday.

Prospective migrant workers are Santika Karliyawati from Cianjur and Nurhaini from Lombok who will be sent to Qatar, and Siti Patmah from East Kotawaringin who will be sent to Kuwait.

"Currently, both of them have been secured at the UPT BP2MI DKI Jakarta, Ciracas, East Jakarta, and one is suspected of having a mental disorder at the facilitation of BP2MI to the Ministry of Social Hospital for treatment", said Head of BP2MI Benny Rhamdani in Jakarta, Antara, Tuesday, August 24.

The failure of the illegal placement of prospective migrant workers prolongs a series of events that have the potential to threaten the country's foreign exchange heroes.

Earlier on Sunday, August 20, BP2MI managed to secure seven prospective migrant workers who were victims of fraud by a syndicate of illegal placements in Poland. Sadly, the victims of the fraud have deposited IDR 45-50 million in cash.

Currently, BP2MI is seriously making improvements by continuing to interfere with the existence of syndicates for the illegal placement of Indonesian migrant workers.

Benny said crimes committed by illegal placement syndicates had very high intensity and a huge potential threat to the safety of Indonesian migrant workers.

"We have to fight their extraordinary crimes in extraordinary ways. And I always say the presence of BP2MI is to dissolve the orgies of this illegal placement syndicate", said Benny Rhamdani.

Meanwhile, the Director of Protection and Empowerment of the European and Middle East Region, Hadi Wahyuningrum, said that currently the placement to the Middle East for the position of implementing household has not been opened.

This makes potential migrant workers vulnerable to threats of physical and sexual violence to acts of human trafficking if they continue to leave illegally.

"We do not want to hinder CPMI (Indonesian migrant worker candidates), but save CPMI friends from the illegal placement process which is very life-threatening", said Hadi Wahyuningrum.
