JAKARTA - The Regency Government (Pemkab) of Tangerang, Banten Province through the local Population and Civil Registration Office (Disdukcapil) issued 8 electronic identity cards (e-KTP) for transgender groups.

"Currently, Disdukcapil has only recorded eight people from the transgender group to receive e-KTPs," said Head of the Tangerang Regency Diadukcapil Population Registration Division, Hedi Mochamad Hartadi in Tangerang, Sunday.

He said the data collection on the provision of e-KTP to transgender groups was a follow-up to instructions from the Directorate General of Population and Civil Registration (Dukcapil), the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri), and the Banten Provincial Government (Pemvrov).

"So according to instructions from the center and the province to collect data and be given population documents as citizens," he said.

He explained, these transgender people will be recorded according to their gender and real name. However, if someone changes gender from female to male or vice versa, then this must go through the process regulated by law and with a court decision.

"If later the transgender party wants to change gender, there must be a certificate from the Health Office and the local court," he said.

He also reminded that transgender people in filling out population administration must include true information.

According to him, every citizen will get the same services and rights in data collection, recording, and administrative printing. Because discriminatory practices should not exist in public services.

"In the future data collection, regardless of personal type, and every Indonesian citizen is entitled to equal public services," said Hedi Mochamad Hartadi.
