Police Ask To Straighten Information That There Was No Bomb Explosion In Margo City Depok And Wasn't An Act Of Terrorism

JAKARTA - Depok Metro Police Chief Commissioner Imran Edwin Siregar asked the media to straighten out the information that there was a bomb explosion at the Margo City Mall, Depok. The media should straighten the news that there was no explosion at the location.

"The results of the Gegana inspection, there was no bomb explosion. This is to straighten out the confusing news that there was a bomb explosion. There was no bomb explosion, but it was the result of an elevator falling from the 3rd floor to the 1st floor because of the heavy load", he told reporters on Saturday. August 21.

Although many building materials collapsed and were damaged, Commissioner Imran said this was because the building structure was not strong enough to withstand the load.

"That also caused a big sound. So that some ceilings and walls collapsed", said the Chief of Police.

In addition, the damage to all materials was due to the construction of the building which was not strong enough to withstand the load of the freight elevator at the back.

"The freight elevator fell from the 3rd floor, making a big enough sound that some of the ceilings from the 3rd floor to the 1st floor collapsed", he said.

Meanwhile, Margo City Depok Marketing Communication Reza Ardiananda added that until now the team from Marco was still conducting further investigations into the cause of the incident.

"But we can be sure, this is not an act of terrorism or criminalism as has been spread outside", he added.

Reza said the incident occurred in Margo City Prominet on the right. As a result of the incident, there were no fatalities at the scene.

"Thank God we have received no reports of casualties. The incident occurred in the Margo City Prominet area on the right side. The biggest impact (damage) was in the Marugame Udon area", he said.

Previously reported, Beji Police Chief Commissioner Agus Khoeron denied that an explosion occurred on the 1st floor of Margo City, Depok, West Java. According to him, the only cause of the roof on the floor collapsing.

"It wasn't an explosion. The gypsum ceiling fell. This is me at the scene of the crime. It happened at around 16.30 p.m. local time", he told reporters, Saturday, August 21.

Commissioner Agus said, due to the incident the damage occurred only to the ceiling of the lobby.

"So only the ceiling fell, there were more than 20 meters. The object that fell did not hit the outlet because it happened to be empty, so far it was closed", he said.
