Depok Police Chief: The Loud Bang In Margo City Wasn't The Sound Of A Bomb, But A Goods Elevator Falling From The 3rd Floor To The 1st Floor

JAKARTA - Depok Metro Police Chief Commissioner Imran Edwin Siregar said the loud banging sound in Margo City Depok was caused by the goods elevator in the mall falling from the 3rd floor to the 1st floor, making a loud noise.

"So I state once again, there was no bomb explosion. The results of the early inspection showed that there was no bomb explosion", he told reporters at the location, Saturday, August 21, evening.

The police chief asked the media to straighten out the confusing news that there was a bomb explosion in Margo City, Depok.

"There was no bomb explosion, but the goods elevator fell from the 3rd floor to the 1st floor due to a heavy load. The structure of the building is also not strong, which causes a big sound. So some ceilings and walls collapsed", he said.

As a result of the incident, the victim was seriously injured and slightly injured reached 11 people. The victim is currently undergoing intensive care.

"They have been treated at UI Hospital 3 people and Bunda Hospital 8 people", he said.

Until now, the incident is still being handled by the Depok Metro Police, Military District Commander (Kodim) and Gegana. The police have also put up a police line at the scene for the purpose of investigation.
