BANYUMAS - A 16-year-old teenager is facing a prison sentence for molesting a toddler aged 3 years and 11 months in Banyumas Regency, Central Java. The perpetrator with the initials WS (16) lives in Kalibagor District, Banyumas.

Head of Criminal Investigation Division Banyumas Police, Commissioner Berry, said WS was arrested on Wednesday, August 18 last. "The victims are residents of Sokaraja", said Berry as quoted by Antara, Friday, August 20.

The arrest of the perpetrator was carried out after the police received a report from the mother of DN (victim) who was suspicious because her daughter complained of pain in her intimate organs after receiving WS indecent treatment.

After an investigation, he said, his party arrested the perpetrator who was still a grade 2 high school student.

Based on the results of the examination, he continued, the perpetrator did this while the victim was playing at his grandmother's house who was a neighbor of WS on Saturday, August 14.

"Before committing the sexual abuse, the perpetrator first persuaded the victim by inviting her to see the fish in the garden. The perpetrator admitted that the act was done because he often watched pornographic films", he said.

Furthermore, Berry said that his party had tried to mediate considering that the perpetrators were still minors and had student status. However, he said, the victim's family still demands that the perpetrator be prosecuted.

"Therefore, WS, who we have named as a suspect, is now being detained", he said.

WS will be charged with Article 82 and/or Article 81 of Law Number 35 of 2014 concerning Amendments to Law Number 23 of 2002 concerning Child Protection Jo. Law Number 17 of 2016 concerning Stipulation of Government Regulation instead of Law Number 1 of 2016 concerning the Second Amendment to Law Number 23 of 2002 concerning Child Protection into Law.

For this incident, Berry appealed to parents to be more careful in supervising their children, especially when they are outside the home to avoid things that are not desirable.
