COVID-19 Update As Of August 18: 15,768 New Cases, 343,203 Active Cases

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) released the latest additional positive cases of COVID-19 as of today. A total of 137,182 specimens were examined with the result that there were 15,768 new positive cases of COVID-19.

"The total accumulation of positive cases since COVID-19 was discovered in Indonesia has reached 3,908,247 people and active cases are 343,203 cases," according to data from the Ministry of Health, Wednesday, August 18.

Today's recovered cases increased by 29,794 cases, bringing the total to 3,443,903 people recovered. Then, positive confirmed cases who died increased by 1,128 people and a total of 121,141 people.

The province with the most new cases was in Central Java with 3,072 cases and a total of 457,261 cases. Followed by East Java which has 1,499 new cases with a total of 363,442 cases. West Java has 1,377 new cases and a total of 660,155 cases. Then, DKI Jakarta has 869 new cases and a total of 842,639 cases.

The province with the most recovered cases today belongs to West Java with an additional 4,678 recovered cases. Followed by Central Java with an increase of 4,020 recovered cases, East Java with an additional 3,217 recovered cases, and DI Yogyakarta with an additional 2,311 recovered cases.

No province has reported no new cases as of today. In addition, the number of specimens that have been examined using RT-PCR, TCM, and antigens reached 29,796,276.

"Positive results per number of specimens examined or this week's positivity rate of 21.62 percent," he wrote.

The number of people suspected of contracting COVID-19 or who are currently categorized as suspected cases, was recorded at 282,964 people. Currently, 34 provinces have had cases of COVID-19.

To date, 55,192,494 people have received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccination and 29,403,345 people have received the second dose of vaccination. Meanwhile, the target for vaccination in Indonesia is 208,265,720 people.
