TERNATE - The North Maluku (Malut) Regional Police team arrested the alleged perpetrator of falsification of documents in the form of a PCR result letter that will be used as a requirement for flights out of the region.

"It is true that the Directorate of Criminal Investigation has arrested the perpetrator with the initials AI, who is a private airline employee on suspicion of falsifying the PCR results," said Head of Public Relations of the North Maluku Police, Grand Commissioner Adip Rojikan, quoted by Antara, Saturday, August 14.

He explained that the incident started when one of the prospective passengers with the initials S who was about to leave for Java asked his friend with the initials R if he could make a PCR without doing a test.

"Then R contacted the AI actor to ask about the flight schedule on Friday (13/8). Then R asked for help whether he could buy a ticket along with the PCR results and the AI actor said hopefully he can be helped," said Adip.

After that, AI contacted R to deliver the PCR results and was given Rp800 thousand in money on Thursday, August 12, at around 23.30 east Indonesia time.

Adip stated that on Friday, August 13 morning, S took the PCR result letter at A's house in Toboko Village, Central Ternate, and replaced Rp800 thousand of money to R.

"Then, S, who had pocketed the PCR results, went straight to Sultan Baabullah Airport in Ternate," he said.

Arriving at Sultan Baabullah Airport, S was asked to show a PCR result letter and directed for an antigen test, then asked by airport officials.

"Airport officers contacted PT NHM management to confirm the PCR results, because the letter was issued by the mining company," he said.

After being cross-checked at the quarantine post of PT. NHM the letter was declared fake and perpetrator A admitted that the letter was made by him himself.

Adip said that currently, investigators are conducting investigations and developments related to the case of falsification of the PCR results.

"It is conveyed to all the people of North Maluku who will leave the area to complete the requirements set by the government and do not do things that violate the law," he said.
