Considered Impossible As DKI Governor Candidate, Riza Patria Is Advised To Take Part In The 2024 Legislative Election After Deputy Governor's Term Of Office

JAKARTA - The remaining positions and deputy governor of DKI Jakarta will end in 2022.

After stepping down as Governor of DKI Jakarta, Anies Baswedan predicts that many people will take part in the 2024 presidential election. Meanwhile, Ahmad Riza Patria is not yet known what his steps will be after leaving his position as deputy governor of the capital.

Esa Unggul University political communication observer Jamiluddin Ritonga, assessed that Riza Patria will not follow in the footsteps of Anies Baswedan, who has the opportunity to run in the 2024 presidential election.

"It seems that (Riza Patria, ed) will not run with Anies again in the 2024 Pilleg. Because Anies has a great chance to run in the 2024 presidential election. Meanwhile, Riza is not qualified enough," Jamiluddin said in a statement quoted on Saturday, August 14.

According to him, there are two possibilities that Riza Patria will take after stepping down from the DKI 2 seat. First, the candidate for governor of DKI Jakarta in the 2024 Pileg if his electability is good enough to compete with other candidates.

"For this, Riza must have been able to measure his opportunities from now on until after his term of office ends," he said.

However, said Jamiluddin, if you look at his track record during his time as deputy governor, there is an impression that Riza's existence is not prominent. His position as deputy governor is still following in the shadow of Anies.

Moreover, his electability has never appeared in the surveys of several survey makers both nationally and locally in DKI Jakarta.

"If the governor's choice is too heavy to win, Riza Patria can choose a legislative candidate (Caleg) from DKI Jakarta in the 2024 Pileg," said Jamiluddin.

"This choice is much more likely to be obtained considering that some residents of Jakarta already know him very well," he added.

Accordingly, according to Jamiluddin, Riza just has to choose an electoral district (dapil). Is it the DKI 1, DKI 2, or DKI 3 electoral district, which is considered the most likely to be elected.

"Looking at the two choices, it seems that the choice of legislative candidates is the most likely to be obtained by Ahmad Riza Patria. This choice will bring him back to become the people's representative in Senayan for the 2024-2029 period," said Jamiluddin.
