JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is reportedly investigating allegations of corruption in the provision of social assistance (bansos) in DKI Jakarta.

However, this news was reluctant to be answered further by the Director of Investigation of the KPK, Setyo Budiyanto. According to him, even if the new investigation related to the alleged corruption in social assistance is indeed being carried out by the anti-corruption commission, it certainly will not be announced.

"The name is the investigation stage, there are open and closed activities and these activities will certainly not be disclosed," Setyo told reporters at a press conference broadcast on the Indonesian KPK YouTube, Friday, August 13.

Later, an announcement related to this will be made when the process has entered into the investigation.

"So whether the answer is yes or no, we will wait for the balance and official information," he said.

As previously reported, the KPK has often investigated cases of alleged corruption in the provision of social assistance (bansos) to the point of dragging regional heads.

One of the regional heads who has been detained and will conduct a trial due to alleged corruption in the provision of social assistance is the inactive West Bandung Regent Aa Umbara Sutisna. He was named a suspect after allegedly receiving money amounting to Rp1 billion.

In addition, the KPK has also named another suspect, namely Andri Wibawa, who is the son of Aa Umbara and M Totoh. Both are private parties in the alleged corruption case in the procurement of emergency goods for the COVID-19 pandemic.
