JAKARTA - A beauty doctor, dr. Richard Lee has recently received a lot of public attention. The more so related to the confusing news during the arrest process until he was finally released.

For the arrest process, dr. Richard Lee was secured at his residence in Palembang, South Sumatra, on Wednesday, August 11. During the arrest, it was stated that the police used coercive means.

The Head of the Cyber Sub-Directorate of the Ditreskrimsus Polda Metro Jaya Kompol Rovan Richard Mahenu said that Richard Lee's form of resistance was refusing to be arrested.

"At that time Brother R refused to join the investigators voluntarily, so at 12.00 the investigators made a forced attempt to arrest Brother R," Rovan told reporters, Thursday, August 12.

Whereas in the arrest process, investigators have complied with existing procedures. Where, the arrest must include an arrest warrant and so on.

"Our members at 7 am had entered Brother R's house and were followed by local security and members of the police. Then explained the case that was being investigated, namely about illegal access and eliminating evidence," said Rovan.

On the other hand, Rovan also denied the news about the arrest of Dr. Richard Lee for the alleged defamation case. Because the case is still under investigation.

"So the news outside stating that this case is related to defamation is a hoax," said Rovan.

Illegal Access Case

More news about dr. Richard Lee was the case on which the arrests were based. Many suspected that the arrest was related to the alleged defamation case reported by the Kartika Putri celebrity.

The Head of Public Relations of the Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Yusri Yunus straightened out the circulating news. He said the arrest was not due to a case of alleged defamation, but a case of alleged illegal access.

"Based on the results of the investigation, it was found that those who carried out illegal access and theft were in the account, which became evidence. This was done by RL (Richard Lee) himself," said Yusri.

However, the arrest did have something to do with the alleged defamation case. Because, dr. Richard Lee is said to have intentionally deleted the upload on his Instagram account.

In fact, the @dr.richard_lee account has been designated as evidence in the alleged defamation case.

"On the 9th yesterday, based on the results of the investigation, the evidence in the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Polda Metro Jaya had illegal access to an account that had become evidence from investigators. Based on the confiscation from the South Jakarta District Court at that time on June 8, 2021," said Yusri.

So, in this case dr. Richard Lee has been named a suspect and arrested. In addition, he was also charged with Article 30 in conjunction with the ITE Law and Article 231 of the Criminal Code and/or Article 221 of the Criminal Code.

"The case of defamation reported by K is different from the legal remedies for illegal access and theft of evidence in the account," said Yusri.

Become a Suspect and Was Arrested

In addition, after the investigators determined that dr. Richard Lee as a suspect in the case. He was found guilty of illegal access and removal of evidence.

"Now we have named RL (Richard Lee) as a suspect," said Yusri

Later, investigators also decided to arrest Dr. Richard Lee. However, the reason behind the decision is not yet clear.

"He was detained at the Polda Metro Jaya Crime Investigation Unit," he said.

Not long after, the investigator's decision changed. Because, dr. Richard Lee was released instead. Although his legal status has been determined as a suspect.

"An examination has been carried out, no detention has been carried out," said Yusri.

One of the reasons for not being detained was because investigators considered that Dr Richard Lee was cooperative in the investigation. In fact, previously investigators had made coercive efforts in the examination process.

Then, as a substitute for not being detained, Dr. Richard had to make a mandatory report. However, Yusri has not detailed the mechanism for the mandatory reporting.

"It is mandatory to report on the grounds that the person concerned was cooperative during the examination," said Yusri

On the other hand, Dr. Richard Lee, who was free to breathe fresh air, gave a statement. He thanked several parties. One of them is the National Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo.

"I can only say thank you, everyone helped me, the National Police Chief helped me, the Dirkrimsus helped me, the Wadir helped me, all investigators helped me," said Richard.

Not to forget, he also expressed his gratitude to his lawyer who faithfully accompanied him. Then, to the investigators who have handled the case well.

"Bang Razman helped me tremendously. There were so many people who prayed for me. The Head of Sub-Directorate also helped me," said Richard.
