BLT Recipients Shrink Up To 285 People, Wouma Jayawijaya Residents Geruduk Post Office, Suspecting Of Fraud

PAPUA - Around 200 residents of Wouma District in Jayawijaya Regency, Papua Province, held a peaceful demonstration at the Wamena Indonesian Post Office (Posindo).

The masses questioned why they no longer received direct cash assistance (BLT) distributed by the central government.

The coordinator of the action, Kaitanusik Ikinia, said that in previous years, 1,603 Wouma residents received BLT. But lately the number of recipients has decreased for no apparent reason.

"But currently only 285 people have come out (registered to receive), most of them can't anymore," he said in Wamena, the capital of Jayawijaya Regency, as reported by Antara, Thursday, August 12.

They questioned the reduction in the number of beneficiaries. According to them, most of those who did not accept were residents of Wouma.

They expect Posindo, the Population Service and the Social Service to re-coordinate regarding the reduced recipient data because initially the district-level social assistance operators had already submitted recipient data to the government.

"We suspect that there must be a game between district heads, district operators and social services and the post office, because at the beginning 1,603 people had received it but now almost 1,000 people cannot. What is this, even though they are local people who really need it," he said. .

They gave until Monday, August 16 for the social service, population service and posindo to provide answers regarding the reduction in recipient data.

"We give time until next Monday, with the hope that the 1,603 people who have received social assistance must be realized and all must receive it. While we are waiting for the process, as a guarantee we will cross the excavation material C in Wouma," he said.

Another resident, Fabianus Lagoan, said that their action was to question the rights of the residents of 7 villages regarding the receipt of direct cash assistance (BLT).

"The problem is the recipient's data. Some of these are fraudulent, so that some people (the Wouma natives) cannot," he said.

They have not received an explanation why in the first stage they received assistance, but in the second stage they did not receive it.

"In the second stage, we couldn't get it, even though the name was there, the card was there, why did we get it in the first stage and now we can't. This is what people complain about," he said.

The Head of Posindo, Wamena La Oli, explained to the masses that the distribution of aid carried out by Posindo was based on data received from the central government.

"The data we use is data provided by the ministry. We don't know about the lack and excess (reduction or excess of the number of recipients). he said.

Due to the demands of the community, Posindo on the same day distributed financial assistance to the residents of the district. Assistance is adjusted to the list of recipients obtained from the central government.
