JAKARTA - The government has decided to extend PPKM (Restrictions on Community Activities) Level 4 to 2 in Java and Bali from August 10 to 16.

The extension of the PPKM for one week is carried out by loosening the opening of malls or shopping centers in areas that apply Level 4.

However, not all cities/districts in Java and Bali are allowed to open shopping centers. Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, said the trial of opening malls was only in 4 cities.

"Trials for opening shopping centers or malls will be carried out in the cities of Jakarta, Bandung, Surabaya, and Semarang with a capacity of 25 percent over the next week, with strict health protocols", Luhut said in a virtual press conference, Monday, August 9.

Luhut said that visitors who were allowed to enter the mall had to meet certain conditions. Only those who have been vaccinated can enter the mall and must use the PeduliLindung application. Also, there is an age limit that can enter the mall.

"Children under 12 years old and over 70 years old will be prohibited from entering this mall or shopping center", said Luhut.

Luhut said the decision to extend the Java-Bali PPKM would be stated in the Instruction of the Minister of Home Affairs in more detail.

"In this detailed decision process, we have communicated carefully with various parties, such as mall associations, industry, and so on", said Luhut.

Luhut explained that 26 regencies/cities dropped from level 4 to level 3 because they showed significant improvement in conditions on the ground.
