There Are Scammers Using The Name Of The Mayor Of Surabaya, Eri Cahyadi, The City Government Asks Residents To Be Careful

SURABAYA - The Surabaya City Government appealed to the public to be careful and be aware of the rise of fraud either through SMS, WhatsApp or social media on behalf of Surabaya City Government officials. One of them is on behalf of the Mayor of Surabaya, Eri Cahyadi.

Head of the Public Relations Section of the Surabaya City Government, Febriadhitya Prajatara, said the person used the WhatsApp number 0831-2295-5675. In the WhatsApp account, Mayor Eri's face, which is posted as a profile photo, is wearing a white shirt and reading the newspaper.

In a short message to several numbers, the person introduced himself as the Mayor of Surabaya who was raising money donations to share with foundations and Islamic boarding schools.

"So it is certain that everything is not true. The number does not belong to the mayor", said Febri, in Surabaya, Monday, August 9.

Therefore, Febri asked all officials within the Surabaya City Government, Regional Owned Enterprises (BUMD), and the private sector to be more careful and be aware of all forms of fraud by irresponsible parties.

"If anyone calls from the number 0831-2295-5675 in any form, please be careful or just ignore it", he explained.

Not only that, but the former Head of Division of Civil Service Police Unit also reminded the people of Surabaya not to immediately believe if this number or another number is on behalf of Mayor Eri or city government officials with a specific purpose or purpose.

"We ask the residents of Surabaya to be careful and do cross-checks first", he said.

In addition, Febri added that if the public finds out about the incident, they should immediately report it to the authorities. Because the Surabaya City Government is not responsible for all forms of losses incurred as a result of the fraud.

"Be careful if there are calls that ask for or have certain intentions on behalf of city government officials, for whatever reason because it is not true", he said.
