National Police Chief: 20 Thousand East Kalimantan Residents Undergo Self-Isolation

SAMARINDA - National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo said around 20,000 more people in East Kalimantan (Kaltim) were still undergoing self-isolation due to exposure to COVID-19.

"Of the thousands of East Kalimantan residents who were confirmed positive for the coronavirus, 76 percent of them were hospitalized and around 86-88 percent were treated in a centralized isolation place (isoter), as well as 20 thousand more self-isolation," said the National Police Chief on the sidelines of the mass vaccination and handover. TNI-Polri social assistance at the Balikpapan BSCC Dome Building quoted by Antara, Friday, August 6.

According to the National Police Chief, daily active cases in East Kalimantan are still high, as indicated by the Bed Occupancy Rate (BOR) or the availability of rooms in hospitals being fully occupied, and isoter places are also full.

He hopes that people who undergo self-isolation (isoman) should enter isoter places. "Because, in addition to adequate medical facilities, medical officers are always there and ready to handle and serve intensively if under certain conditions," he hoped.

Meanwhile, East Kalimantan Governor Isran Noor appreciated and was grateful for the presence of the TNI Commander and the National Police Chief in East Kalimantan, regarding the handling and prevention of COVID-19 in the area.

"On behalf of the local government and the community, we are grateful for the visit and support from the TNI Commander and the National Police Chief in East Kalimantan," said Governor Isran Noor after a review of the mass vaccination and distribution of basic necessities.

Isran Noor believes the presence of these two generals in the ranks of the TNI and Polri is able to increase the enthusiasm and motivation of his staff and local governments in dealing with COVID-19.

The governor also encouraged the spirit of the community to care and be aware of the importance of jointly supporting the acceleration of the implementation of the vaccination program.

Mass vaccination for residents of Balikpapan City was attended by 3,600 participants consisting of 2,000 first-stage vaccines and 1,600 second-stage vaccinations.

The event was attended by Commander VI Mulawarman TNI Major General Heri Wiranto, East Kalimantan Police Chief Inspector General Herry Rudolf Nahak, DPRD Chairman H Makmur HAPK, East Kalimantan Forkopimda ranks and Balikpapan Mayor Rahmat Mas'ud.

The activity was in conjunction with the delivery of TNI-Polri social assistance in the yard of the Balikpapan BSCC Dome Building, by the TNI Commander and the National Police Chief.

The distribution of social assistance for residents undergoing independent isolation was attended by 136 personnel consisting of Bhabinsa 31 people, Bhabinkamtibmas 37 people, Bhabinpotdirga (AU) 10 people, Bhabinpotmar (AL) 8 people, and volunteers 50 people. In total there are 1,120 food packages.
