JEMBER - The government of Jember Regency, East Java put up a red flag in the homes of residents who were self-isolating because they were confirmed to have COVID-19 with mild symptoms.
Jember Regent Hendy Siswanto together with Deputy Regent M. Balya Firjaun Barlaman accompanied by the COVID-19 Handling Task Force visited the homes of residents who were self-isolating at Bumi Mangli Permai Housing, Kaliwates.
"The installation of flags at the homes of residents who are self-isolating so that we can monitor their condition and can help them, so that the visit is in the context of the realization of the program for handling COVID-19 cases from upstream, but handling from downstream also remains a top priority," said Hendy in Jember. quoted by Antara, Thursday, August 5.
He explained that the program was realized through judicial operations in every kelurahan and the laying of a special red flag for people who were self-isolating.
"This program is a form of new breakthrough for the Jember Regency Government which is more practical in breaking the COVID-19 chain, where currently Jember Regency has PPKM level 3 status," he said.
The task force will go around the homes of residents who are self-isolating and tracking them by conducting an antigen swab test, then residents who are self-isolating at their homes will be given a red flag.
"The task force will carry out 'tracing' (tracking) by conducting 'swabs' (swab tests) on residents who are close to patients who are self-isolating. That is the step of the Jember Regency Government to handle COVID-19 in the upstream sector," he said.
The Jember Regency Government has also prepared two centralized isolation locations, namely Kebonagung Hotel and Jember Sport Garden, for COVID-19 patients who experience mild and moderate symptoms, so residents who are confirmed positive are advised to self-isolate in these two locations.
Hendy also appealed to the public to follow the government's program for the safety of all and not to easily believe the rumors that vaccines and swab tests can be deadly.
"Although Jember has dropped to level 3, I still urge the public to remain vigilant and strictly adhere to health protocols because it is still a pandemic," he said.
The Jember Regency Government is trying to accelerate the handling of COVID-19 so that it can go down to PPKM level 2 so that the wheels of the economy can run again.
According to information gathered in the field, several residents who were self-isolating at home eventually died, as experienced by former Jember DPRD member, Sanusi Muchtar Fadilah, who died during self-isolation some time ago.
