Facing The COVID-19 Pandemic, Megawati Instructs Her Cadres To Establish Public Kitchens To Hold Mass Vaccinations

JAKARTA - PDI-P General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri ordered her cadres to work together and help the community in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

There are various ways that can be done, from setting up soup kitchens to holding mass vaccinations.

This was conveyed by the Secretary General of PDIP Hasto Kristiyanto at the launch of an ambulance for the PDIP Disaster Management Agency (Baguna) which was carried out virtually.

"Currently we are facing the COVID-19 pandemic and in the midst of the pandemic, we continue to follow instructions from the General Chairperson of the PDI-P to continue to move forward to present the face of humanity, the face of democracy through all party activities," Hasto said, Tuesday, July 27.

He said all party cadres who sit in executive positions to the legislature must step down to help the people. Likewise Baguna PDIP which will specifically provide assistance to affected parties.

"From the start, we received detailed instructions from the Chairperson of how the party should continue to move, work together with all our people's breath, build public kitchens, then distribute herbs and medicines for the people to strengthen their immune system. We also encourage vaccinations for free for the people," said Hasto.

According to him, Megawati has already compiled details of the implementation of the public kitchen and mass vaccination. This has been entrusted directly to the Minister of Social Affairs, Tri Rismaharini, so that the PDIP Body can move simultaneously.

Later, the public kitchen will not only be established in Greater Jakarta but also throughout Indonesia. This is a manifestation of the party's presence in the community, especially when facing the COVID-19 pandemic.

As for this activity, PDIP also launched a number of multipurpose cars that will be used by Baguna PDIP in the form of ambulances, hearses, to three-wheeled transport vehicles.

The vehicles launched consisted of one Hiace type ambulance, 1 Hiace hearse, 7 Granmax ambulances, 2 Granmax hearse, and 1 tricycle motorbike ambulance.

In addition, there are also 2 units of three-wheeled motorcycles that transport garbage, 1 unit of water tank tricycle motorcycle, 1 unit of box tricycle motorcycle, and 5 units of electric motorcycle.

"Ambulances and hearses are part of our humanitarian movement, we will increase their strength so that the PDI-P movement will be more meaningful and touch the people," said Hasto.

"This is very important, especially in the midst of this covid pandemic. We are committed to continuing to be on the path of humanity through this multipurpose vehicle," he concluded.
