Police Seized 16 Youths Involved In Illegal Racing In Solo

JAKARTA - The Surakarta City Police Samapta Unit managed to disperse the illegal racing by securing dozens of youths and motorbikes on Mojosongo Ring Road, Jebres, Solo, Central Java, early Monday, July 26.

Head of Samapta Police Surakara Commissioner Police Sutoyo said officers managed to disperse and secure 16 youths as well as evidence in the form of a Yamaha N-Max motorbike used for betting, 10 other motorbikes involved in the illegal race location.

Sutoyo said that his party initially received reports from the public via the Call Center [phone], stating that on Ring Road, precisely in front of the Plesungan Mojosongo gas station, Solo, there was a group of youths who were competing in illegal motorcycle racing, which always disturbed the community and endangered other road users.

"Based on the report, we immediately followed up to the location of the incident. Officers managed to secure a number of 16 youths and secure evidence in the form of a Yamaha N-Max motorbike used for betting and 10 other motorbikes at the illegal racing location", said Sutoyo in Solo, reported by Antara.

According to him, the 16 youths who were detained were to be held accountable for their actions along with 11 motorbikes, which were secured and taken to the Surakarta Police Headquarters to be followed up with coaching.

"We also ask parents to supervise their children more so they don't get involved in illegal racing. We also urge them to just rest, and gather with their families at home during this pandemic", he said.

Meanwhile, Surakarta Police Chief Commissioner Ade Safri Simanjuntak stressed that the Surakarta Police would continue to carry out patrols as well as raid vehicles using Brong exhaust to create a conducive situation, especially illegal racing actions that often occur on the streets.

"We will not tolerate motorists who use this Brong exhaust, we will follow up, we will lock up motorized vehicles. Motorcycle owners after replacing the exhaust with a new factory standard can be taken", said the Police Chief.

A total of 11 motorbikes involved in illegal racing were immediately secured and handed over to the Traffic Unit for document checking and ticketing, while the 16 youths who were secured were given guidance so they would not repeat their actions.
