In East Kalimantan, Only Mahakam Ulu And Paser Regencies Are Left That Have Not Entered PPKM Level 4

JAKARTA - Five regions in East Kalimantan Province, namely Samarinda City, East Kutai Regency, Kutai Kartanegara Regency, North Panajam Paser Regency, and West Kutai Regency are included in the Implementation of Level-4 Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM).

Assistant to the Government and Welfare of the Regional Secretariat of East Kalimantan, Jauhar Effendi said that based on the explanation of the Coordinating Minister for the Economy, it was stated that there were 45 regencies and cities in 21 provinces outside Java and Bali that were included in the category of implementing PPKM level 4.

"Especially for East Kalimantan, there are 8 regions that are included in PPKM L4 namely Berau, Bontang, Balikpapan, Samarinda, Kukar, Kubar, Kutim, and PPU," said Jauhar Effendi after attending a Level 4 PPKM Implementation Discussion Meeting outside Java Bali in Samarinda, reported by Antara, Saturday, July 26.

Thus, currently, there are only two areas in East Kalimantan, namely Mahakam Ulu Regency and Paser Regency which have not yet entered PPKM level 4, previously the government had set Berau Regency, Balikpapan City, and Bontang City in PPKM level 4.

Regarding the status of Samarinda, Kubar, Kutim, Kukar, and PPU, it was mentioned that Jauhar would be issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs regarding the implementation of PPKM L4 which would later become the basis for the Governor of East Kalimantan to issue Ingub, as did the Mayor of Samarinda, Regents of Kukar, Kutim, Kubar, and PPU.

Jauhar hopes that all areas in East Kalimantan will monitor the availability of oxygen, increase the occupancy rate of beds or Bed Occupancy Rate (BOR) for the treatment of residents affected by COVID-19.

"All government-owned hospitals have implemented an increase in BOR for COVID-19 patients by up to 45 percent," said Jauhar.

Jauhar said that in Vicon which was held on Saturday, July 24 afternoon, COVID-19 expert Prof Wiku Adisasmita reminded the importance of implementing health protocols up to the RT level.

"The public is required to comply with health protocols, because all these COVID-19 handling programs are key to community compliance," said Jauhar.
