JAYAPURA - The National Armed Force (TNI) Commander Marshal TNI Hadi Tjahjanto provided assistance in the form of oxygen cylinders, concentrators, and medical equipment, especially personal protective equipment (PPE), for two hospitals in Papua.

Papua's Head of Health Department (Kadinkes) Robby Kayame confirmed the assistance provided to two hospitals, namely Jayapura Regional Hospital and Yowari Regional Hospital in Jayapura Regency.

Robby explained that the assistance provided was in the form of 50 oxygen-filled tubes, 50 concentrators, 1.000 PPE, and 120.000 masks transported using the Airforce's (TNI-AU) Hercules aircraft.

The Hercules plane landed at the base ops of Silas Papare Air Base, in Sentani, Thursday, July 22 morning.

"We really appreciate the assistance given considering that currently the number of COVID-19 cases has experienced a high enough increase, causing a number of hospitals to be overwhelmed due to the limited oxygen", said Kayame.

As a result of the continued increase in COVID-19 cases, it is hoped that the community will tighten health protocols, especially when doing activities outside the home.

"Health protocols must be implemented by all citizens to avoid being exposed to the COVID-19 virus", said the Head of Health Department.
