Mahfud MD: People Have Wealth But Don't Want To Sacrifice, The Prayers Are Not Many Benefits

JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs, Mahfud MD, invites people who can give or hand over sacrificial animals during the Eid al-Adha holiday.

"Let us give or hand over the sacrificial animal because the prophet said, whoever has the opportunity or opportunity or leeway to sacrifice but does not want to sacrifice, then don't come near our prayer place", said Mahfud, as quoted from the video. uploaded to the YouTube account of the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Tuesday, July 20.

He invites all parties who feel able to give sacrifices to the needy, including the poor. Because whoever can do it but doesn't want to offer their prayers may not have many benefits.

"If people have the opportunity or have the wealth to make sacrifices but why don't they want to sacrifice, it means that their prayers are not very useful", said the former Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court.

Mahfud said that the sacrifice is not an obligation of worship that must be done. "But (the sacrifice, ed) is sunnah muakad, meaning that it is only highly recommended", he said.

"Let's sacrifice for the good of our society and to help the poor", said Mahfud.
