JAKARTA - Vice President, Ma'ruf Amin, invites the Indonesian people to be patient in dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic, which is a global trial.

This was conveyed by Vice President Ma'ruf when delivering the Virtual National Takbir Akbar Tausiyah in the context of Eid al-Adha 1442 H.

"This COVID-19 test and trial is indeed something extraordinary, a global trial, which befell all nations in the world. Therefore, let us be patient with it, patience is beautiful", said the Vice President, quoted by Antara, Monday, 19 July.

The vice president said the world is a place of trials and Allah SWT has stated that humans will be tested, among others, by hunger, lack of wealth, and fear.

As experienced by Prophet Ibrahim who was tested by Allah SWT to sacrifice his son by slaughtering him on Eid al-Adha.

"If Prophet Ibrahim said that he was ordered by Allah to slaughter his son, Ismail said 'my father, do what Allah ordered, God willing, I will be patient to accept it'. That is an extraordinary attitude", explained the vice president.

The Vice President also emphasized that being patient in the face of trials does not mean having to give up without trying.

"But being patient does not mean silent, passive. Patience in the real sense means that we also have to fight", he added.

In the trying conditions of a pandemic, the Vice President also asked all Muslims to fight by obeying health protocols and implementing vaccines so as not to spread the transmission of COVID-19.

"We must not remain silent, especially if we sacrifice ourselves to become victims of COVID-19. Allah forbids us, do not throw yourself into destruction with your own hands", said the Vice President.
