Coffee Shop Owner In Tasikmalaya Emergency PPKM Violators Begin To Be Locked In Prison

JAKARTA - The Class IIB Penitentiary (Lapas) Tasikmalaya, West Java, ensures that every citizen found guilty of violating the emergency PPKM in the area is handled according to the applicable rules.

The head of the Tasikmalaya Prison, Davy Bartian, said that at this time his party had treated Asep Lutfi well and according to the rules, who was sentenced to confinement in a special room for violating the emergency PPKM.

"The person concerned was handed over by the Tasikmalaya City Prosecutor's Office to the Class IIB Prison after the decision was made. The agency he leads immediately accepts to carry out their duties and court decisions," he said, quoted by Antara, Friday, July 16.

Asep Lutfi was sentenced to imprisonment for three days after violating the Regional Regulation (Perda) of West Java Province Number 5 of 2021 concerning Amendments to the Regional Regulation of West Java Province Number 13 of 2018 concerning the Implementation of Peace, Public Order and Community Protection after being caught serving food and drink in public places. business during a pandemic.

Davy emphasized that the procedure for admitting inmates will remain the same as before, according to the standard operating procedure for the admission of new inmates.

In addition to administrative checks and control of appearances, Asep Lutfi also carried out health checks and rapid antigen tests considering the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

"We have placed ALS separately because the person concerned has just entered from outside the prison area and the conditions inside are already overcrowded or exceeding capacity," he said.

He ensured that Asep Lutfi's basic needs were still provided properly, including health services which were also continuously monitored by local prison officials.

Currently, there are 357 residents in the Class IIB Tasikmalaya prison with a normal capacity of only 88 people.

Previously, the Head of the Tasikmalaya District Attorney's Office, Fajaruddin Yusuf, said that the emergency PPKM violator, namely Asep Lutfi (23) the owner of a coffee shop in Tasikmalaya City, chose to be detained rather than pay a fine of Rp.

"Based on the decision, he was asked to pay a fine of Rp. 5 million or a three-day imprisonment, after being confirmed, he chose to undergo confinement," Fajaruddin said as quoted by Antara, Friday, July 16.

He said that the violator of the emergency PPKM chose to go to prison because he did not have the money to pay the fine, so that according to the regulations he had to serve confinement in the Tasikmalaya Prison as a substitute for the fine.

Furthermore, violators who have been decided by the court, he said, must undergo confinement and coaching in prisons, not in the police station.

"In prison, because this has been decided, if it is at the police or prosecutor's office, it is a case that has not been signed or is still being investigated, if this is the case it has been signed," he said.
