South Kalimantan Police Destroyed 1.3 Kilograms Of Meth Evidence By Blending

JAKARTA - The South Kalimantan Police's Drug Investigation Directorate blended 1,364.54 grams or 1.3 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine which was destroyed in Banjarmasin, Wednesday, July 14.

"In addition to methamphetamine, 41.5 pills of ecstasy and 163 capsules and 8 grams of gorilla tobacco were also destroyed," said Head of Sub-Directorate III of the Narcotics Directorate of the South Kalimantan Police, Police Commissioner Puryanto, who led the destruction.

Held at the Directorate of Tahti South Kalimantan Police, DI Pandjaitan street, Banjarmasin City, the destruction of narcotic evidence was witnessed by 44 suspects, consisting of 42 men and 2 women.

"The evidence that was destroyed this time was the result of the disclosure of the crime of illicit trafficking and or narcotics abuse," said Puryanto on behalf of the Director of Drug Investigation at the South Kalimantan Police, Grand Commissioner Tri Wahyudi.

He explained that the destruction of narcotic evidence must be carried out immediately as a form of accountability of the Police to the community in law enforcement of Law No. 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics.

Puryanto emphasized that the war on drug trafficking continues to be echoed so that South Kalimantan can be free from these illicit goods.

He admitted, during the COVID-19 pandemic, the drug business was allegedly still going on and not even decreasing. It is evident from the number of case disclosures that remain high both at the Regional Police and at the Resort Police.

"The police cannot work alone in efforts to eradicate drugs. The police need the participation of the community and all stakeholders. Let us together prevent it from the smallest scope, namely the family," he said.
