JAKARTA - The Palu City Government stated that as many as 20 of the 46 urban villages in the capital city of Central Sulawesi were in level four or the status of a red zone for the spread of COVID-19.

"Based on temporary data from the Palu Health Office, the number of sub-districts in the red zone has increased to 20 from the previous 19", said Secretary of the Palu Health Office, Ilham, who was met in Palu, reported by Antara, Tuesday, July 13.

He explained that since July 8, 2021, there were only six urban villages with red zone status data. Then, two days later that number increased drastically to 19 urban villages, and on Monday, July 12, the number rose to 20 villages from 46 urban villages in Palu.

Based on the technical calculations of the Health Office, he said, the change in status was seen from the number of exposed residents, namely if in one village it was found that the number of positive COVID-19 residents was above five cases, then it was declared a red zone.

"When viewed from the trend of cases, the City of Palu has quite increased positive cases of COVID-19 along with the increasing red zone status in urban villages", he said.

He explained that to prevent and control the transmission of the Coronavirus in the community, the Palu City Government maximized supervision and evaluation of the implementation of micro-community activity restrictions (PPKM) in each region in Palu City, especially the villages with red zone status.

The special team formed, led directly by the Deputy Mayor of Palu, Reny A Lamadjido. The team is working to take a closer look at how the implementation of PPKM is in the hope of reducing the rate of transmission of COVID-19 in the city.

"Supervision of field activities is of course also important, so that it can be measured and what are the obstacles in the implementation, so that the implementation of PPKM activities is optimal", she said.

According to her, the government has worked hard with various strategies and policies implemented starting from prevention to controlling positive confirmed cases.

In fact, one of the steps the Palu City Government took to anticipate if at any time there were too many COVID-19 patients at the Anutapura Regional General Hospital, a special isolation building had been prepared for residents exposed to the Coronavirus who needed intensive care.

"Currently, the isolation building prepared by the government has not been used. We hope that there will be no patients being treated in the emergency building", said Ilham.
